The remainder of the first day was spent taking my trophy to the taxidermist and an evening hunt for Muntjac. I sat in a high seat until dark and saw two Muntjac does, but nothing with antlers. These are strange little deer and I enjoyed watching the two does as they kept moving about feeding. It seems they never stand still. The ones I saw were always moving.

I was placed in a different place the following morning in another high seat overlooking a small valley with trees thick ground vegetation. I saw nothing for a good while and then spotted one Muntjac buck in the extreme distance. I chose not to shoot due to the distance involved and he was near the top of the next ridge with a rooftop showing beyond that. I watched him disappear into the thick stuff and waited once again. Finally, a doe came across a small clear spot with a big buck right behind her. They vanished into some thick stuff and when they reappeared once again moving through another small clearing, I dropped the buck.

At the distance I shot, I really didn't know just how good he was until I walked up to him. Absolutely awesome, a potential top ten SCI record! I now had taken both of the trophies I had hoped to harvest on the first two mornings. Wow, what an experience!
